Angela Sharp

Modern & Ballet Director

Angela Sharp received her formal training from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing &

Visual Arts, Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University, Interlochen Arts Center, Dallas

Black Dance Academy, Martha Graham Center for Contemporary Dance, Virginia School of the Arts, & the

Conservatory of Classical Ballet. During this time she focused heavily on Graham & Horton technique, &

performed in works by such notable choreographers as Martha Graham, Paul Taylor, Anne Reinking, Doris

Humphrey, Donald McKayle, James Truitt, John Mead, & Luis Montero.

She has danced professionally and served as Co-Artistic Director/Resident Choreographer with

phoenixdancetheatre, Curve Dance Theatre, Ground Level Dance Company, and the Sharp Collective; as well

as dancing with Improria Persona, Dancers Unlimited, and New World Ballet. She has performed throughout

the DFW metroplex, as well as in Austin, Las Vegas, Orlando, Michigan, Utah, New York City, & San Fransisco.

Her choreography has been presented at A Dallas Dance Gathering, the Dallas Morning News Dance Festival,

the bridge for Dance in New York City, Uptown Performance Series in New York City, the Independent

Choreographers Coalition, & The Choreographic Platform Series in New York City. She has set original

modern dances on Contemporary Dance/Ft. Worth, Dancers Unlimited, & New World Ballet.

In 2006 Angela moved to Tyler to become the Ballet Director at Artistic Dance Concepts, & since then she has

created a multitude of full-length Ballets, as well as numerous award-winning Pointe & modern dances.
